To say our toddler is obsessed with animals would be an understatement. Like most two year olds, animals of all kind are fascinating to her and we love creating activities surrounding some of her favorites.
Most recently, we did a Pinterest inspired activity where we had to bathe her farm animals. I told her a story about how the animals played in the mud and got all dirty and they needed to be washed and dried before they could come back into the house.
I muddied the animals up using dirt from out yard and placed them in one compartment of our IKEA FLISAT sensory table (here’s the link) and in the other compartment I added water and soap.
I gave Emmy scrub brushed and a towel and she went to work!
Not only was this activity a great sensory activity, but it also challenged her fine motor skills to use the scrub brush in just the right way to get the dirt off of the animals.
Also- if you are looking for a taste safe version of this for little ones, you can do it with chocolate pudding! We opted out of this because Emmy is to the point where she doesn’t put everything in her mouth and if she found out her bin was filled with pudding… I doubt there would be anything happening but eating!
