Kinder Readiness Assessment
It’s crazy to think that my middle child will be starting Kindergarten just 10 months from now! In order to prepare her as best as I can for Kinder, I wanted to create an at-home assessment to guage what her areas of strength were and what areas we could stand to improve upon. For example, when I completed this assessment with my 4-year-old, she was able to identify every single upper case letter, however, was barely able to recognize even half of the lower case letters. This told me that incorporating some upper and lower case matching activities would really benefit her!
Keep in mind that this assessment does not need to happen in one sitting. We completed it throughout the day with a variety of activities. Once completed, I used the assessment to guide me in activity planning over the next few weeks and months. I plan to complete the assessment again in 3-4 months time to see how much she has improved in the needed areas and once again gain an idea of where we need to focus to ensure she is ready to take on Kindergarten!
Here are some activities to help your toddler in some of these areas listed on the assessment:
Activities to help your toddler learn their colors
Activities to help your toddler with letter recognition
Hi Caroline,
I just bought your fall package and I am excited to use it in my class.
I would also like to have the free assessment printable but not able to download it. Can you please share this to me via email.
Thank you very much.
Hi Samreen,
I am sending you the assessment now! Check your email for a copy!
