Pumpkin Spice Play Dough Recipe
Fall means all things Pumpkin Spice in our household. Kids activities are no exception! We’ve got a great Pumpkin Spice Play Dough recipe to share with you today!
This recipe starts with making our standard play dough. I cannot even begin to tell you how many times I have made this recipe. It’s easy and makes a large portion of play dough. Here’s the recipe:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup salt
- 4 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 2 cups lukewarm water
- 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil
Add the flour, salt, and cream of tarter into a pan on the stove (no heat just yet) and mix well. Next, stir in the warm water and vegetable oil. Turn stove to medium heat and start stirring! I found that using a sturdy wooden spoon was best as it was able to scrape the bottom of the pan as the mixture began to thicken. Continue stirring until you have a solid mass of play dough. Once it was thick and dough-ey, I removed it from the pot and placed it on a sheet of parchment paper to cool.
This usually takes about 20-30 minutes.
Once cool, you will want to start with the coloring. I like to use gel coloring. A little goes a long way and we have had no issues with the color transferring onto our hands.
I like to mix my color in a large zip lock bag. This helps keep my hands clean until the coloring is well mixed.
Once colored, you can add your scent. I added 1/2 a tablespoon of Pumpkin Pie Spice seasoning. You can add more of less depending on how strong of a scent you would like.
