These simple math mats are a great way for kiddos to get a heads on experience with early math concepts. 

The download includes an addition mat as well as a subtraction mat. I also included a page of numbers to be cut out and used with the mat. This gives children who can identify numbers but might not be ready to write them the ability to independently create their own math problems and work them out. Be sure to print out two pages of the numbers to allow for problems with the same digits (Ex: 2+2, 3+3, etc.)

When it comes to working out the math problem, let your kiddo pick sometime they love! Incorporating their favorite item is a great way to get them excited about learning! We used our clouting bears (here’s the link if you’d like to grab a set) but the options are endless! You could even use cherrios or goldfish to make it a fun snack time activity!

For older children who are beginning to write, you could use a laminating pouch so they can write on the mat using a dry erase marker! We use these pouches even when not writing just to protect the mat and keep it in well enough shape to be used over and over. Find the pouches here!
