This activity encourages your toddler to focus on the small characteristics of each coin. When introducing this activity, walk through each coin with them. Discuss the color, the images on each side, and the size.
Start with sorting the first few coins together, then allow them to work on their own for a bit. Once they have sorted all the coins, ask them to compare the coins for you. What are the differences between the quarter and the nickel? How are the penny and the dime different?
