Making Math Fun with Dice Math Mats
Incorporating dice into math activities is a great, hands-on way to make learning fun! All you need is a pair of dice, our free printable (link below), a dry erase marker and a dry erase pouch (these last two items are not required, but are highly recommended so your child can complete the activity many times without having to print a new worksheet each time)
Here is a link to the dry erase pouches we have been using for years!
Getting your Child Started with Dice Math Mats
If your child is not familiar with dice, start by explaining that there are 6 sides, each with a certain number of dots, numbered 1-6. Look through each side together and practice counting the dots.
Next, start with the roll it, show it and write it worksheet. This is great practice for getting to know the dice but also showing numbers in a ten frame and writing them out.
Let your kiddo complete the worksheet as many times as they would like. Once you feel it is time to move on to something more challenging, bring in the “roll them out, add them up” worksheet.
